Elin and Rob are into their outdoor activities. Rob rock climbs, cycles, runs; you name it, if you need to be really fit to do it, Rob can do it. I was a bit scared that I wouldn’t keep up with them, but they were kind to me (If I lose Rob on the wedding day, I will check that he hasn’t scaled the walls!). Both Elin and Rob and very warm and open, and very natural with each other. They seem to be a perfect fit.

I’m really looking forward to their wedding in August at the Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey, I know it’s going to be relaxed and great fun.

The Devonshire Arms grow a lot of their own vegetables in their garden (how cool is that?!), these could the the very leeks and lettuces that Elin and Rob eat for their Wedding Breakfast:

This is natural light I swear. Look how moody the Yorkshire dales can be!

Donna and Michael both have an infectious and wicked sense of humour. They first met at college over 11 years ago and it is very obvious that they are best friends and know each other inside out. We spent most of their engagement session giggling, they are so much fun to be with and are not afraid to be silly, which is the best combination! I’m really looking forward to taking their wedding photographs at the fabulous Newburgh Priory near York.

Stuart James: Love this shoot - especially the last one's and the B&W portrait shot - great fun and totally captured the couple!!

James Pearson: Really nice, relaxed shoot. They look totally comfortable in front of the camera and look great! I love the series at the end. Great work!

Susie: Gorgeous shots. Looks like it was be a fab wedding!

Jennifer: Great photographs, and what a gorgeous couple - a wedding photographers dream!

Brandy: Cute couple and you can tell how they are in love form the photos.

Chris: What a great set of photgraphs. You managed to capture the chemistry perfectly.

When you ask Rebecca and Michael what they do and how they met, they look at each other sheepishly. They are the people you are not supposed to like; they both work for the Inland Revenue.

Unfortunately there is no way you can help but like them, they are so caring and warm, and so obviously madly in love with each. Their wedding is going to be relaxed, informal and loads of fun, and I for one can’t wait! If their engagement shoot is anything to go by, their wedding is going to be great to photograph.

Anna admired Martin from afar for quite a while; handsome, funny and kind, he seemed like the perfect catch, but was also shy and she just couldn’t work out if he admired her back. Eventually it became evident, and he soon became known to Anna as ‘the lovely’, a name which has stuck and is very fitting for the lovely Martin.

Martin proposed to Anna on a beach in Wales, which for Anna was the perfect proposal. Happy memories of beach holidays were the basis of the theme for their wedding (and the hen do!).

Anna looking gorgeous, just look at those blue eyes:

Can you see where Martin got his nickname?!

img_1752

Martin isn’t the only handsome man in Anna’s life, he has to compete with Rosco for her affections. And Rosco usually wins! Anna has had Rosco since she was 12, and he is now an amazing and very sprightly 31 years young!

Hayley: Wow, I love the shoe shot, very clever and so elegant. You have captured the love between these two in these, I love them!

Justin: These are some wonderful photos. I love the emotion in the last shot. The horse smooch is also cute.

Rachael is the kind of person who has great ideas, a brilliant sense of style and throws herself wholeheartedly into everything she does, which is why I know her new business venture will be a great success. Essential England will be launched at the end of the month (watch this space for a link to their website as soon as it’s live), and is a flower delivery service with a difference. For a set fee (which, by the way, is incredibly reasonable) you can have fresh, British grown flowers delivered to your home or office every two weeks, once a month, or even quarterly. This is going to make a fantastic gift for a friend, girlfriend, bridesmaid or Mum, or for yourself! And you don’t have to feel even a little bit guilty at spending money on yourself as you know that you will be supporting local, British flower growers.

Rachel will soon be adding wedding flowers and gorgeous boquets to her offerings, and if the flowers I photographed on Friday are anything to go by, they will to die for!

NEW STATIONERY!

June 4, 2009

I have always loved stationary, and I fell in love with letterpress printing the first time I saw it. It is just so luxurious! I think that if a business card is just so damn cool that you can’t throw it away, then that has to be a good thing. Mine were designed and printed by Sally Ann of Invited Ink and I am so pleased with them. They are almost too nice to give away but I will have to remind myself that that is what they are for!

Sally Ann
also designs and prints wedding invitations so brides and grooms, take note. You could hardly hope for a more stylish introduction to your wedding.

Here they are, with my signature colour on the back:

And notecards to match:

Ruth Tate: Love it!! They look amazing!

Stewart Randall: I want some!

Hayley Oats: Wow, I want some too!

David Lowerson: Looking good Rebecca. Are you doing all your stationery like this from now on?

Jennifer: Looks delicious - pity a touch screen doesn't allow you to do just that ;o)

admin: Just business cards and notecards David, I would love to have letterpress letterheads but they don't really work with printers unfortunately!

ISLE OF HARRIS

June 1, 2009

My childhood holidays were nearly always spent in Harris, my parents first visited the island for their honeymoon 32 years ago and fell in love with it. As a child I loved it, rock pools to explore, white sand to play in and clear, turquoise sea to splash about in (I must have been braver then, that sea is COLD!). It was an undiscovered paradise, but as I grew older I began to get fed up. All of my friends went to Rhodes, Spain and Turkey, enjoying the hot sun and the cinemas, restaurants and making friends, while I went to a deserted Scottish island no one had ever heard of. It was windy, remote and miles from anything really fun, I’d had enough of dressing up warm for walks along the windswept cliffs and collecting shells on the beach. I made up my mind that I was old enough to stay at home alone.

14 years later I decided that I was ready to go back. The hills, the beaches, the rockpools and the sea were as I remembered, the island as beautiful and as remote as I had expected. It seemed smaller then it had when I was a child; the villages closer together and the walks shorter, but everything was in it’s rightful place. Harris has a unique smell I hadn’t known about until this time, a mix of salt and machair, sheep and seaweed, a sweet pleasant smell that tells you that you are by the sea in Scotland.

I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of being thrilled with finding a nest. Gulls, Oyster Catchers and Arctic Turns make their nests precariously on rocks, hills and sometimes just on the beach. One day I found a dark brown spotted Turns egg lying on the sand, the mother circling anxiously overhead. I wanted to build a little fence around it and keep it safe. This is an Oyster Catchers nest (I think!):

James Pearson: Wow, Rebecca, you've really put that landscape course to good use - these are really stunning! Glad you decided to return to your childhood holiday destination and enjoy it.

Susie: I want to go there! You should sell these to the tourist info people - they'd get innundated with visitors. The last one is especially amazing.

Peter Lawson: Sounds like a lovely place to visit, apart from the sheep and seaweed smell! As everyone has said, the last shot is particularly great, love how dark and mysterious it looks!

the little sis: so jealous! i miss going to harris! i will get back there some time... road trip at easter me thinks! love you bex, see you soon xxx

Drew: Wow, now those are the kind of photos I am talking about!! Brilliant!
