MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

I’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! I hope you’re all feeling festive with all this cold weather and snow – I certainly am! I’ve spent the last couple of weeks baking Christmas biscuits, cakes, gingerbread etc in my spare time and am now ready to put my feet up and enjoy Christmas at my parents house in Northamptonshire. We’re heading down there tomorrow, and I can’t wait to see everyone!

Also I hope you all have a fantastic New Year and a great 2011, I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown. It will be a very exciting and life changing year for us next year with our little girl due at the beginning of March! I’ll be taking a bit of time off before getting back in full swing by June, there are lots of weddings and portraits to look forward to next year.

A photography blog post is just not right without some photographs, so here are some photos I took in the snow we’ve just had. I love the snow!

My little miniature shetland, Archie, in the snow with Colin. You can see how tiny he is! Nest year he’ll be getting a little saddle and bridle ready for my little girl!

Finally a couple of snowy portraits. You can beat snow for giving lovely even lighting.

Have a wonderful holiday!

YORKSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | TORY AND JAMES: ENGAGED

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Tory and James are getting married next year at the gorgeous Goldsborough Hall, and so came over for their engagement session just as the snow was melting away – the roads here have been so icy it’s been hard to get anywhere without a tractor. I’m a big fan of the snow, it coats everything with a glittery, pretty topping and makes even boring things look nice.

Tory and James don’t need anything to make them look nice though – they manage that all on their own! Just to add a bit of festiveness though, it’s snowing on my blog ;-)

DODMOOR HOUSE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | LAUREN AND JAMES: MARRIED

Monday, December 13th, 2010

I went to school with James, what seems like not that long ago. We stayed in touch via Facebook, and when he asked me about wedding photography about a year ago I was really pleased. It was really lovely to catch up with him and get to know the lovely Lauren, (he’s done rather well for himself ;-) ), and I loved seeing so many familiar faces at the wedding. It really felt like I’d seen everyone a few weeks rather than a few years ago.

Lauren and James got married at the lovely Dodmoor House, which is very informal and gorgeous barn conversion in Northamptonshire. They had a very intimate, small legal ceremony first, with just their Mum’s as witnesses (and me!), and then we had time for some photographs before the other guests arrived for the blessing and exchange of rings. The blessing was conducted by Lauren’s sister which made it very personal and lovely.

The gorgeous flowers were by Manic Botanic:

Lauren’s shoes were gorgeous – this girl is all about the details which I love!

First look just before the ceremony:

Aren’t they gorgeous!

Lauren requested some more staged, managed groups rather than just a line up. It worked really well and everyone co-operated nicely! There are some more examples in the slideshow.

In the evening the guests were all given sparklers and made a sparkler walkway for Lauren and James to walk through, a great way to enter the dancefloor for your first dance!

To see more there is a slideshow of highlights and their online gallery with all the photographs. The password is their surname.

P.S. I’m feeling festive, so it’s snowing on my blog!

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

These gorgeous girls came over for a portrait photography session a few weeks ago and were little angels! We got some lovely autumnal portraits and we’re planning another summer session next year so they can come back with their summer clothes and a tan. A lot of these portraits are being made into an album as a keepsake – in candy pink of course ;-)

Portrait sessions usually cost £100, and products are then chosen at the viewing and paid for separately. For Christmas only, all portrait sessions will include £100 towards your frames, canvasses or albums, making the session itself complimentary! To book please call 01423 326875 or you can buy a portrait photography voucher online. Our portrait sessions take place in the beautiful grounds of Newby Hall, near Harrogate in Yorkshire, where the studio is based.

SALLY AND MIKE’S PAPAKATA WEDDING FEATURED ON BELLEAMOUR BLOG

Friday, November 26th, 2010

Sally and Mike’s lovely Papakata was featured on the Belle Amour blog this week. Sally and her Mum put in a lot of effort to make the wedding beautiful and personal, and it was a pleasure to photograph. Papakata weddings are always great fun, unusual, and the teepee’s always look amazing. Sally and Mike’s wedding had a natural green and ivory colour scheme and a relaxed, country feel – complete with gnome candles on the tables!

Here is part one of the post, and part two.

Thanks to Debs for the lovely write up and the very inspiring blog!

GOLDSBOROUGH HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | JENNY AND JAMES: MARRIED

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

Jenny and James choose the fab Goldsborough Hall as their wedding and reception venue, and I was very glad they did as it’s one of my favourite venues. The weather was nowhere near as amazing as the wedding, but it didn’t matter as Goldsborough Hall has lots of great places for photographs under cover!

The flowers were by the lovely and talented Lynda Moss

I LOVED Jenny’s dress. It was very unusual and very beautiful:

Jenny and James broke with tradition and walked down the aisle together:

Jenny’s Uncle’s band were booked to play in the evening, and they surprised the couple by an impromptu performance in the dining room before the first dance:

To see more of Jenny and James’ wedding, there is a wedding photography slideshow, and their photographs are in an online gallery. The password is their married surname.

NEWBY HALL PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER YORKSHIRE | BORCHARDT FAMILY

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

I met the lovely Borchardt family at the Great Yorkshire Show, and they came for their portrait photography session a couple of weeks ago. The girls bought their teddy bears picnic with them, which made for fantastic photographs and helped them to relax at the beginning. They soon got in the swing of things and were very photogenic! They were then joined for a few photographs by their gorgeous brother.

If you’d like to book a family portrait photography session, I am running a special offer until the end of December.

PATSHULL HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | KATE AND MATT: MARRIED

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Kate and Matt got married on a beautiful day at the gorgeous Patshull Hall in Staffordshire. Patshull Hall is very close to the family home and holds great memories as Kate’s father had his 60th celebrations there a few years ago. It’s a beautiful and very impressive stately home.

Kate looked absolutely stunning and Matt wasn’t too bad either ;-)

There is also a slideshow of Kate and Matt’s wedding, and an online gallery. The password is their married surname.

TATTON PARK WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | JENNY AND PAUL: MARRIED

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

Jenny and Paul got married at the beautiful Tatton Park in Cheshire, and despite the weather looking a bit dubious in the morning, we managed to make use of the gorgeous grounds. Jenny’s dress was stunning, and I really loved her Spanish veil!

A massive thank you to Neil Matthews who came along as second photographer. Neil took this shot just as Jenny was about to go into the ceremony, and I have to admit I’m a little jealous ;-)

Another great shot by Neil:
